Central Dallas Ministries'
MISSION
To
share the love of God in word, action and attitude while building
community in the neighborhoods where we live and work.
PHILOSOPHY
The
following philosophical principles and understandings guide the daily
operations in all areas and activities as CDM and its employees work
hard to accomplish the organization’s Mission.
-
We
believe in the ability of people to solve their own problems when
given access to opportunity and resources.
-
We
believe the resources within a community are adequate to initiate
genuine renewal and redevelopment.
-
We
devote ourselves to the discovery and mobilization of individual and
community resources and capacities.
-
We
believe in partnership and collaboration, therefore we hold all of the
resources at our disposal with an open hand.
-
We
believe racial reconciliation is a prerequisite for genuine community
renewal.
-
We
believe that our walk with God will always lead us into the community
around us.
-
We
believe "reneighboring" will be an important part of community
development and renewal. As a result, many of our team live in the
neighborhoods where we work.
-
We
believe charity must be replaced by compassionate community building as
a basic strategy.
-
We
believe for community to thrive, the institutions (homes, schools and
houses of faith & worship) that make genuine community possible
must be renewed.
-
We
believe the public, private and faith-based organizations of a city
must all play important roles in community development.
-
We
believe it is better to teach a man to fish rather than to give him a
fish, but best of all is "pond ownership."
-
We
believe in the value of both chaos and ownership. If you want to know
what we mean by this, call
us.
CORE VALUES
Like our Philosophy and Mission, the
following Core Values
inform what we do and how we do it:
Community - We are a community of
neighbors, investing in each other and developing meaningful
relationships which value each individual.
Faith - Our work flows out of our
faith, and that faith is inclusive and ecumenical.
Justice - We stand for justice
and demand equity for all our neighbors.
Stewardship - Our resources
belong to the community and, as stewards of those resources, we will
act with integrity, demonstrate accountability and operate efficiently
and effectively.
