Give Help, Build Hope:
Host a Drive for the Central Dallas Food Pantry!

The Central Dallas Food Pantry is the highest volume food pantry in Dallas County. Each week, we provide over 12,000 pounds of food to our neighbors. That's nearly 300 tons each year!

In order to do this, we need your support.

There are generally three types of drives that local churches, schools, youth groups and companies can provide. These are detailed below.

Support Drives

  • Most effective

  • Easiest to operate

  • Greatest impact

Food Drives

  • Canned goods

  • Non-perishables

  • Hard-to-Find Foods

Goods Drives

  • Clothes

  • Household Goods

  • Furniture

Support Drives

Through support drives, groups of people work together to collect cash donations to support the Central Dallas Food Pantry. This is the most effective way to help us feed the hungry, because $1.00 in cash provides more support than a dollar of food.

How?

By leveraging CDM's buying power, we can obtain food at around $0.14 per pound. This allows us to care for over ten times the number of families that you could support with your own purchasing.

Compare our prices to the amount advertised by a local grocery store down the street from our pantry  . . .

Item You Pay (on sale) . . . CDM Pays . . . Impact
Canned Chicken $3.18 per pound $0.14 per pound 22.7 times more food
Name Brand Cereal $2.00 per pound $0.14 per pound 14.3 times more cereal
Bottled Grape Juice $0.62 per pound $0.14 per pound 4.4 times more juice

With the vast need in our community, we encourage you to extend your dollar by using our leveraged buying power. To organize a support drive in your neighborhood, church, company or school, please contact Katie Goldberg at 214-823-8710 x 117.

Food Drives

We especially need canned protein (tuna, chicken, etc.). This is an especially hard item for us to buy from the Food Bank, and it is always in high demand.

Additionally, we need:

  • Canned food (soups, fruits, vegetables, beans, etc.)

  • Bagged food (rice, beans, pasta, etc.)

  • Boxed food (mac&cheese, etc.)

  • Boxed/canned juice

  • Bottled water

If your group would prefer to organize a traditional food drive, please contact Katie Goldberg at 214-823-8710 x 117.

Goods Drives

We also provide a Resource Center to our neighbors, which provides low-income and homeless persons with the opportunity to purchase clothing and basic household goods that they might never otherwise be able to afford. These are the items that are in high demand:

  • Can Openers

  • Over-the-counter medicines

  • Toilet tissue

  • Washcloths and towels

  • Razors

  • Blankets and sleeping bags

  • Pillows and Pillowcases

  • Mouthwash

  • Lotion

  • School supplies (including backpacks)

Our secondary needs are for:

  • Work clothes for adults

  • School uniforms for children

  • Toys, games and stuffed animals for children

If your group is interested in collecting such items for our neighbors, please contact Katie Goldberg at 214-823-8710 x 117.
