Children's Education is a comprehensive network of services that equips youth to dream and envision who they can and will one day become. The program is designed to connect the youth in our communities with their highest potential, mentally, academically, and socially. The Education Department maintains a focus on college, career, and social skills development for every child and adult participant. Central Dallas Ministries has had a presence with the youth of different East and South Dallas neighborhoods for more than a decade and will continue that commitment in its effort to strengthen community
After-School Academy –
An after-school educational and experiential learning program,
operating from 3 – 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday right in the heart of Roseland
Town Homes and Estates in Dallas. The ASA provides elementary-aged
children the assistance needed to progress academically while also
providing them with enrichment activities that encourage children to develop unexplored interests and help inspire possible careers. Contact: Danielle Evans at 214-809-2977.
Teen University (Teen U) –A support structure around the lives of current and prospective college students who have been involved in CDM's youth programs. Focuses on helping students to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes that they will need to not only get accepted to college, but to succeed in their studies. Includes college trips and college-focused workshops that help them to envision their future. By inspiring youth from low-income neighborhoods to aspire for college degrees, we challenge students to rise above the many barriers that confront them. Mid-Teen U (MTU) – A program designed for 5th-8th grade young men, MTU is the precursor to Teen U. MTU works to help some pre-teens change their behavior and helps others move forward in their life skill development by recognizing that pre-teen boys’ intellect is often left untapped. MTU takes the opportunity to develop the students’ potential by engaging them in hands-on activities based on their interest in learning about how things work and are created. Through exposure, experience, and educational activities, we help prepare them socially and help them discover how their interests can be utilized in a professional career.
Roseland Library/Bookstore – A library for all ages where people can choose to read, browse, and purchase books (25 cents for paperback, 50 cents for hardback). The goal of the library is to increase exposure, interest, and access to books while also allowing kids and families to build their own home libraries. The library offers a daily story and activity time for elementary children. Other features of the library include: one-to-one reading, book fairs, and book clubs.

Connect U – A technology lab designed to help kids and adults learn more about the many different opportunities to utilize technology. The adult program allows beginning visitors to learn about basic computer skills as well as more advance skills such as creating photo shows and using free online software. A program that assists adults with literacy skills is also available. The children and teens utilize the lab to learn typing skills, play educational games, do research, improve academic skills, check email, and browse the internet.
The Digital Connectors program is a limited-enrollment program for 14-21 year olds that focuses on web-page design, leadership development, financial literacy, and creating mobile apps. Students completing the program are certified in Cisco IT Essentials training and have the ability to build and repair computers. Contact Connect U at 214-809-6217.
Urban Experience –
An urban learning experience focused on three major components:
Exposure, Awareness, and Reciprocity. Urban Experience is designed to help groups gain an understanding and heightened awareness of what it means to be poor. Half-day and full-day groups participate in simulated experiences to enhance discussion. Urban Experience can be crafted toward teens, college students, and/or adults.
